Monday we watched the pen pal movie for week three and wrote to our pen pals. If you were absent, please do this is you are able by Friday.
We then began work on the Imperialism Unit Project.  You can see the assignment sheet, group assignments, and blank notes page on google classroom.

Tuesday: We continued work on the Imperialism Project and Lit circles for TFA reading.

Today we completed the second week's assignment for penpal schools. 
We then got into literature circles based on roles to discuss Things Fall Apart

Today we completed the week 1 penpal schools.  If you were absent, please watch the video and reply to your penpal.

Today we took notes on the three levels of thinking when analyzing political cartoons.  If you were absent, please view and take notes on the presentation on google classroom about political cartoons. 
HW: notes on chapter 27 section 1 are due tomorrow. There will be an open notes quiz.

Today we watched The Danger of a Single Story and identified ways the single story view can have real life consequences. 

Today we began our Perspective unit by looking at what shapes perspective and implicit bias.

Today we analyzed an MCAS sample essay. See document on google classroom for prompt. 

HW: Locate the thesis statement (the one sentence in the first paragraph that goes through the three levels of thinking) and identify the parts of that sentence correspond to each level.

Today we evaluated evidence & explanations in the "capitalism & communism in The Time Machine" assignment (on google classroom.  This assignment should be completed today.
We then ranked values based on various perspectives in the Industrial Revolution and answered in writing: How is what's fair influenced by perspective? Is it possible to have a system that is fair for all? Explain with evidence from class.

HW: 1. Make sure you have the link or write "hard copy" on your anchor activity spreadsheet. 2. Do anything to advance  your work with the anchor activities.

Yesterday and today, we characterized the Eloi and the Morlocks.  The assignment and quotes are on Google Classroom.  We also linked the time traveler's theories on the future society to the Industrial Revolution.

Homework:  Answer-Where would H.G. Well's fall on the economic spectrum?  (Capitalism---Communism) Why? Use evidence from The Time Machine ​to support your answer.
