In class we took the 25.2 Quiz. We also discussed chapters 1-5, and completed an "I Am" poem for Jimmie.
In class Fri we worked on identifying mood in writing, particularly Maggie. We also defined the terms political, social, economic, diplomatic, and cultural, to better be able to categorize historical events, causes, effects etc.
In class Mon we watched the Pen Pal Schools video for week 3. Please write to your pen pals tonight. We also did a factory simulation to better identify how the IR changed the economy and society. HW DUE TUES: 27.2 textbook notes (assigned in class FRI), Actively read Maggie Chp 3-5, write to your pen pals. and Wednesday we worked on note taking strategies in preparation for the notes due Thursday. We also gave out a copy of the novel for this unit: Maggie: A Girl of the Street and the first reading assignment due Friday.
Thursday we handed in 25.1 notes and took a quiz on the info about the beginning of industrialization. We then looked at a passage of Maggie and completed this writing/grammar assignment. HW Due Thursday:
Take notes on the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. You may choose to take notes from chapter 25 section 1 of the textbook or from THIS online text. Today we completed the writing assignment: Write about one of the modern topics we've been learning about from a different perspective.
We also completed Pen Pal Schools assignment week 2. Read "The High Price of Cheap Fashion" and complete the reading guide

In class we watched THIS video and wrote about the single stories presented in the news today and how they affect our lens.
Find and read an article about something happening the the world outside the US. Try to read about something you are unfamiliar with or did not even know existed. Be prepared to discuss the topic in class on Tuesday.
